WHERE DID WE GET OUR BIBLE?

  1. The OT was written sometime between the 15th and 5th centuries B.C.
  2. The NT was written sometime between A.D. 50 and the end of the 1st century.

DOES THE VERSION OF THE BIBLE WE USE MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

  1. Yes and no.
  2. Yes…if we keep it in context with its purpose.

HOW IS THE BIBLE DIFFERENT FROM OTHER RELIGIOUS BOOKS?

  1. The Bible does not try to cover up just how flawed its characters are.
  2. Despite its diverse authorship, the Bible is a uniform text.
  3. The Bible elevates women above the cultures of its time.
  4. The Bible authenticates its own claims.
  5. The message of the Bible continues to transform people’s lives.

HOW DO WE BEST USE OUR BIBLE?

  1. We use our Bibles when we need encouragement.
  2. We use our Bibles to help make decisions.
  3. We use our Bibles to develop a wholesome worldview.
  4. We use our Bibles for personal transformation.
  5. We use our Bibles to find the mind of God.

Conclusion: If you have a Bible, cherish it as a tool that God gave us to proclaim His Word for our lives. It is a tool, not an idol, but it is a holy tool.
