PRAYER FOCUS
Prodigals and the Lost
Luke 15:11-32
Today, let’s focus in on Luke 15. The most spoken subject in that chapter concerns the prodigal son.
He wanted his inheritance from his father. In other words, he wanted his dad dead. The father was willing to give it to him. So, the young man left his father’s presence and his provision.
As Proverbs tells us, the rich have many friends. But when the son ran out of money, the “friends” departed! The son came to himself and was willing to become a servant. He repented and headed home.
The father kept a watchful eye out for him because the community could STONE him for disgracing his father’s name. The father was so excited that his son had come to his senses and returned home. His sonship was restored and celebrated by all except his brother who had an unforgiving attitude.
A beautiful attribute of our Father is to intercede on behalf of the prodigals in our lives. It’s His will that none should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance (2 Peter3:9). His timetable isn’t ours!
