PRAYER FOCUS

Men of DaySpring

1 Cor. 16:13-14
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.

Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.  He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.  Whatever he does prospers.

Micah 6:8
He has showed you, O man, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

Mark 10:45
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.

In our world today we can clearly see how men have turned away from God. Society says men should chase their desires and run over whoever gets in the way. Men strive for power and achievement. This is nothing new; it has been going on since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. We even see in the Bible many examples of men that strayed from the life God intended: Jacob was a liar, Moses was a murderer, King David was an adulterer, and there are many more.

So who do men need to look to for a better way?

We need to look to Jesus and his example of how he lived and walked as a man on this earth. Men need to reflect Christ's character by leading humbly, serving and loving sacrificially, living with integrity, and by being self controlled. They also are to take responsibility as a provider, protector, and spiritual guide for the family.
We all are at different places on our spiritual walk, and no matter what has happened in your past, Jesus is ready and waiting to help you grow into the man God wants you to be. Our world, our country, our local community, and our church are desperately in need of men who are willing to strive for a closer and deeper walk with Jesus.
