DaySpring to the Prisoners!
"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'"
(Matthew 25:34-36)
One of DaySpring's first compassionate ministries was an outreach to the incarcerated at the Hinds County Detention Center. Every week DaySpringers preach, disciple, and teach GED classes to the men in the Center and pray for God to release them from the sin that entangles them.
We have also started CR Inside at the Hinds County Penal Farm as the A&D Program and men you can be a part of this exciting ministry.
We also regularly minister in Thursday night and Sunday services at the Hinds County Penal Farm as well as offering other Bible studies at that facility.
Our hope is to provide spiritual encouragement and correction to the inmates. Invariably we find that we are the blessed ones; this kind of loving touch is close to the heart of Jesus.
DaySpring loves the prisoner and wants to partner with Christ in an endeavor to combat crime, sin, and unfulfilled potential as we invite men behind prison doors into a loving relationship with our Lord.
"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners... to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." (Luke 4:18-19)
